Role: Controller (all genders) in Zalando Payments, responsible for financial steering of the Zalando Payments entity, spanning financial consolidation, reporting, short-term forecasting, and end-to-end controlling of overhead costs. The role combines analytical depth with broad stakeholder exposure, working closely with Finance colleagues, cost center owners, Zalando Payments senior management, and senior Finance stakeholders at Zalando Group level. Responsibilities: - Own consolidation and reporting of Zalando Payments' financial performance, ensuring a complete, accurate, and consistent financial view. - Drive the short-term rolling forecast (Latest View) process end-to-end, coordinating with Finance team members and consolidating expectations into an entity-level outlook. - Analyze financial performance and variances in depth, identifying underlying business drivers and providing clear commentary to management and Group Finance stakeholders. - Take end-to-end ownership of overhead controlling, including month-end closing, accruals, variance analysis, forecasting, and budgeting. - Partner with cost center owners, providing transparency on financial performance and supporting budget and forecast management. - Investigate and reconcile financial data across systems, proactively identifying and resolving inconsistencies. - Develop and maintain robust financial controls and reconciliation mechanisms. - Continuously improve controlling and reporting processes for greater transparency, standardization, and automation. Qualifications: - Solid professional experience in Controlling, FP&A, or a comparable Finance role, ideally in a complex, fast-paced, data-driven organization. - Strong analytical and investigative mindset, with ability to reconcile data sources and understand root causes behind variances. - Strong understanding of financial controlling processes including month-end closing, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and management reporting. - Attention to detail combined with ability to connect individual financial effects to the broader P&L picture. - Strong sense of financial ownership and control, proactively implementing checks and reconciliations. - Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable presenting to senior Finance and business stakeholders. - Comfortable working across multiple systems and large datasets; experience with SAP and financial reporting or BI tools valued. - Fluent in English; German is a plus. - Curiosity, ownership, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
