Senior Product Manager - ZEOS Tech Compliance (all genders)

Role: As a Senior Product Manager (Technical Compliance) in the ZEOS Data Team at Zalando, you will report to the Head of Data and play a pivotal role in shaping how technical compliance requirements are translated into scalable product solutions across systems, platforms, and partner integrations. This role sits at the intersection of product, technology, legal, privacy, and operational execution. You will own and drive the product strategy for technical compliance domains, collaborating closely with engineers, architects, legal, security, privacy, operations, and partner-facing product teams. Your mission is to ensure that compliance requirements are embedded into product design and technical implementation early, pragmatically, and sustainably, managing the end-to-end lifecycle of technical compliance initiatives from regulatory and internal control needs to roadmap execution and continuous improvement. Responsibilities: - Define and execute a compliance product strategy aligned with business goals and evolving regulatory requirements. - Translate regulations and technical requirements into scalable product solutions in close collaboration with legal, privacy, security, and engineering teams. - Own technical compliance domains end-to-end, including data deletion, retention controls, auditability, consent handling, platform governance, API compliance, and technical policy enforcement. - Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, architecture, operations, legal, and product partners to embed compliance into the broader product ecosystem. - Balance compliance, scalability, and business pragmatism in prioritization and delivery. - Drive compliance-by-design thinking, embedding compliance into product discovery, technical design, and delivery processes. - Establish documentation, decision frameworks, and governance supporting internal alignment, external audits, and long-term maintainability. - Anticipate regulatory and technical change to proactively evolve the product landscape. Qualifications: - 4+ years of product or project management experience, ideally in technical platform products, internal systems, compliance-heavy environments, or infrastructure domains. - Strong technical understanding of system dependencies, APIs, platform architecture, data flows, and technical constraints. - Experience working closely with legal, privacy, and security teams on products involving technical compliance, governance, or internal controls. - Understanding of data infrastructure, data engineering, analytics, and cloud-based technologies (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud); or prior experience as a data consumer (analyst, data scientist, engineer). - Effective stakeholder management in complex organizations, aligning engineering, legal, operations, privacy, and leadership. - Structured communicator, able to explain complex technical and compliance topics to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Strategic product vision to define vision, strategy, and roadmap in multi-domain environments, balancing risk, priorities, and technical debt.
