Metallica to donate proceeds from new single to German flood victims

US heavy metal band Metallica are hoping to donate the proceeds from a new release of their hit single “Enter Sandman” to victims of the floods in the federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia.

Universal Music confirm funds will go to flood victims in Germany

On August 16, a spokesperson for Metallica’s record label Universal Music confirmed that the proceeds would be donated to Germany’s flood victims, and added that the new release is scheduled to come out on August 20, 2021.

The single will be re-released as both a vinyl record and in two different CD formats, and is expected to be sought-after by fans and collectors of the band’s memorabilia.

30th anniversary of Metallica’s “black” album

To celebrate the 30 years that have passed since the band released their “black” album, various cover versions of some of their most well-known songs will be released.

Some of the covers on their new star-studded “blacklist” album will include songs covered by a wide range of artists, including Elton John, Miley Cyrus, J Balvin and Biffy Clyro.

The proceeds from Metallica’s own All Within My Hands Foundation will go to victims of the flood disaster. The foundation was created in 2017 to support education, provide food and give critical services to those in need.
