From August 18, part of the S-Bahn route connecting central Berlin to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) will be closed for track maintenance. Here’s what passengers need to know:
Disruption on S-Bahn route to BER
S-Bahn connections between central Berlin and BER Airport will be disrupted between August 18 and 31 due to track maintenance between S-Bahn stations Treptower Park and Schöneweide.
This means passengers using the S85 or S9 to reach BER Airport will be transferred to a replacement bus service from Treptower Park to Plänterwald and Baumschulenweg, ending in Schöneweide. The S-Bahn service will resume from Schöneweide and run to BER.
What alternative connections to BER are available?
Anyone travelling to and from the airport who wants to avoid the replacement bus service can use several alternative connections.
Passengers can use the RB24 or RB32, both of which stop at Ostkreuz, Schöneweide and BER Airport. Alternatively, passengers can take the Flughafen Express (FEX) from Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Potsdamer Platz or Berlin Südkreuz.
However, passengers should be aware that since December 2025, the FEX no longer connects Gesundbrunnen and Ostkreuz with BER Airport.
