Following Deutsche Bahn’s timetable change on December 14, a new train is now connecting Dresden, Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER).
Dresdener Bahn launches
As of December 14, Deutsche Bahn services across Germany are now running on the national rail provider’s new timetable. One change is particularly important for those travelling in eastern federal states and further afield.
A new service, known as the Dresdener Bahn or RB20 is now connecting Dresden, Lübbenau, Eberswalde, Oranienburg and other towns in Brandenburg with Berlin Hauptbahnhof. The journey time from Dresden to Berlin will be cut down to two hours. The journey currently takes between 2 hours 1 minute and 2 hours 11 minutes.
After Berlin Hauptbahnhof, the train will continue south on the “Dresdner Bahn” route. The Dresdner Bahn stretch will connect Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Potsdamer Platz, Südkreuz and BER airport, with the journey totalling 23 minutes.
More FEX connections from Berlin Hauptbahnhof
Alongside the Dresdener Bahn services, as of December 14, FEX services connecting Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Potsdamer Platz, Südkreuz and BER airport will run more frequently. Between 4.30am and 00.30am, services will run every 15 minutes, rather than every 30 minutes.
But there is bad news for passengers who normally travel from Ostkreuz or Gesundbrunnen to BER. As of December 14 2025, these services won’t run. From February 2026 passengers can use the RE32 regional train from Oranienburg to BER, via Ostkreuz.
