This winter, a dance troupe unlike any other returns to Berlin! With their innovative fusion of classical ballet and street dance, Ballet Revolución promises eight high-octane, memorable performances at Berlin’s Admiralspalast.

Experience the depth of the Cuban dance tradition

Unbeknownst to many, Cuba boasts the largest ballet school in the world, the Escuela Nacional Cubana de Ballet, with around 3.000 students. These dancers are trained in the unique Cuban style, which blends the French, Russian, British and American ballet schools with traditional Cuban folk dance.

Ballet Revolución’s dancing talent is sourced both from Escuela Nacional Cubana de Ballet, as well as from Cuba’s equally prestigious Escuela Nacional de Arte.

Ballet Revolución’s choreographer Roclan González Chávez, himself a graduate of Escuela Nacional de Arte and a veteran of Cuban dance sensations from Los Van Van to Tropicana Cabaret, best describes the fascinating result of Cuba’s stylistic melting-pot: “Cuban dancers move differently than all other dancers in the world.

"The Afro-Cuban dance style gives them great ease in the shoulders and hips. Dancing is pure passion, they can speak through their bodies.”

Behind the scenes

The allure of Ballet Revolución is not limited to its main visual attraction: the dancers. Behind the scenes, musicians and costume designers, technicians and choreographers each contribute to the sound, colour, and movement that manifests into a vivid and exuberant experience on the stage.

A live 7-piece band accompanies the action with international hits from the likes of Justin Timberlake, Camila Cabello, and Enrique Iglesias, while strikingly vibrant costume design by Jorge Gonzalez, known as “the King of High Heels,” beautifully complements the dancers’ skill and sensuality.
