The Long Night of Music (Die Lange Nacht der Musik), is an ambitious and exciting music event that sees music kicking off at 8pm and continuing right through until 2am the following morning. Every year for the past two decades, this marathon has made Munich a hive of musical activity for one night.

Hundreds of music performances in one night

The Long Night of Music began in the year 2000 and involves hundreds of music stages all over the city of Munich, including bars, restaurants, churches, cultural centres, museums, music schools, ballet theatres and concert halls.

Some of the venues - such as swimming pools and bookshops - are a little more surprising! Visitors can experience music of many different styles, from classical and baroque to pop music and jazz, often accompanied by dance and other art forms.

The performances include over 400 concerts, guided tours and dance classes, all of which open up the musical world to everyone, from avid concert-goers to curious newbies.

The sheer variety is the biggest charm of the event: no matter what kind of music you like, you’re sure to find something to suit your taste. There’s rock, pop, klezmer, jazz, big band, salsa, flamenco, funk, soul, classical music, choral music, folk music and so much more. All of this with just one ticket.
