While most people may not immediately think of the city of Munich as a green city, the Streetlife Festival seeks to highlight the green spaces throughout it.

A blend of a street festival, environmental exhibition, marketplace and fair, each year, 7 hectares of Munich are closed off to all traffic to creatively rethink how public space is viewed and used as part of the biggest street party, Corso Leopold.

Green Streetlife in Munich

Together with the Corso Leopold, the Streetlife Festival takes place twice a year in May / June and September. As an environmentally focused festival, Streetlife seeks to bring nature back into the city while providing information on sustainable mobility, which includes alternative uses of public space, particularly of the roads.

Munich’s streets are reclaimed and filled with stages for music, performances, pop-up fitness groups and more, everything in this festival focuses on sustainability and inclusion. For example, only reusable cutlery is used and all visitors are suggested to come by public transport, bicycle or foot - parking is prohibited in the area during the weekend anyway!

In addition, a fair bazaar is also set up on Saturday, where you can find everything from upcycled bags, natural cosmetics and fairwear t-shirts. Expect to see different public talks about how to live more eco-friendly, as well as alternative modes of transport, such as e-bikes, green scooters, bicycles and more!

The biggest street festival in Munich

At the same time, Corso Leopold connects with the Streetlife Festival, running from Odeonsplatz to the north of the Georgenstraße. Here, art and culture take the main stage at this street party, where everything from music painting, theatre to international cuisine and arts and crafts is celebrated!

A market promoting artisan goods is set up, next to open-air art galleries, pop-up politics discussions, dance spaces and theatre performances! Over 20 entertainment stages with live music and dance performances are also set up throughout the streets, as Corso Leopold offers its own varied and fun-filled programme - transforming the area into a true, car-free street festival!
