FlixTrain hopes to launch service between Germany and Amsterdam

The German company FlixTrain has submitted a request to rail infrastructure manager ProRail and the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) to run a new route between Germany and multiple cities in the Netherlands from 2024.
New FlixTrain service between Germany and Rotterdam
The past few years have seen FlixTrain expand its services to include an increasing number of cities across Europe and compete with Europe's largest long-distance train company, Deutsche Bahn. Now, the company is (finally) turning its attention to the Netherlands.
As Treinreiziger reports, FlixTrain has applied to operate an international, long-distance rail service connecting Oberhausen in North Rhine-Westphalia with the Netherlands. The route would likely travel via a number of German cities before stopping in Arnhem, Utrecht, Amsterdam, The Hague and ultimately Rotterdam.

The new line from Oberhausen to Rotterdam will be FlixTrain's first venture into Dutch rail. The operator’s sister company, FlixBus, has been active in the Netherlands since 2014, with services running via stations in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Delft, The Hague, Rotterdam, Breda, Tilburg, Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Groningen.
