In spring 2026, a new night train will hit the tracks in Europe, connecting Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. Here’s what prospective passengers need to know.
SBB to launch EuroNight service in April
Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) is set to launch a new night train service connecting Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. The EuroNight service will hit the tracks on April 15, 2026, and run three times per week in both directions, all year round.
According to an SBB press release, trains will leave Basel SBB station every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 5.35pm and stop at five stations in Germany: Freiburg (Breisgau) Hbf, Karlsruhe Hbf, Mannheim Hbf, Frankfurt (Main) Süd and Hamburg Hbf.
The train will stop at five stations in Denmark: Padborg, Kolding, Odense, Høje-Taastrup and Copenhagen Airport. Due to time constraints, there is no current plan to stop at Copenhagen Central Station. Finally, the EuroNight will cross the Oresund Bridge from Denmark to Sweden for its final stop, Malmö Central Station, at 9.35am.
How much will EuroNight tickets cost from Germany?
Anyone looking for a night train adventure this spring or summer can already book their tickets for the EuroNight services via the SBB Mobile app, on SBB.ch and - if you’re near the Swiss border - in SBB travel centres.
Ticket prices vary depending on how glamorous you want your journey to be. For example, if you travel on the route between Freiburg im Breisgau and Malmö on Friday, May 15, 2026, you can expect to pay around 57 euros for a simple seat, 82 euros for a bed in a four-person shared cabin or 150 euros for a bed in a two-person shared cabin.
