A drunken teenager who accidentally fell asleep on the railway tracks in the town of Kirn in Rhineland-Palatinate had a passing regional train roll over him. Miraculously, he survived the incident completely unharmed.
A 15-year-old boy was heading home after a night out with his friends, when he felt the need for a little rest. Having had too much to drink, he lay down on the ground and subsequently fell asleep – not realising that his nap was actually taking place on the local railway tracks.
A few minutes later, a regional train passed right over him. The driver of the train – who realised that he had just rolled over someone – alerted the police immediately, telling them he wasn’t sure if the person on the tracks was still alive.
Local authorities – who closed off the section of railway between Frankfurt and Saarbrücken – made their way to the scene as soon as possible, only to find that the boy was completely unharmed – they actually had to wake him up.
The police then handed over the teen to his father, telling him that a "guardian angel" was looking after him and that “today could be seen as his second birthday."
