Un-herd of: a confused and mischievous flock of sheep stormed a German supermarket this week after their shepherd lost control.

Sheep storm Penny supermarket

Staff and shoppers were alarmed this week when a herd of around 50 sheep stormed into a branch of Penny supermarket in Burgsinn, Bavaria. A local shepherd said he lost control of his flock, but it was unclear why they headed directly to the discounter.

The sheep caused chaos once they were through the doors. Videos posted online showed aisles of knocked-over shampoo bottles, wool strewn and droppings across the floor tiles and fearful customers seeking safety on till conveyor belts.

Penny won’t charge shepherd for damages

Once the sheep were re-herded and scampered out of the shop, the staff cleaned up the damaged foods, swept wool from the floor and reorganised the aisles.

According to a report from Tagesschau, the discount supermarket chain will not demand the shepherd pay for any damages incurred. Nobody is getting fleeced.
