[Video] German photographer captures devastating effect of plastic on our oceans

We all know that plastic waste is one of the biggest threats to our oceans, together with climate change and overfishing. Although Germany is doing is part to cut down on plastic waste, one German photographer, York Hovest, has decided to take things one step further by shining a light on the true scoop that plastic destruction has on the environment.

In his latest documentary project “100 Days of Oceans - Heroes of the Sea”, Hovest shares with us a unique portrait of our oceans, underlining the immense problems caused by plastic pollution. To encourage us to change our behaviour and thoughts towards plastic waste, he followed some of the most diverse “heroes of the sea” - scientists, activists and environmentalists - around the world, examining how they are helping to preserve the life and uniqueness of our oceans.

His film documentary and book closely follow his journey to help save the oceans, spanning from the blue seas of the South to the frozen waters around the Arctic Circle, showcasing the true beauty of all forms of marine life and why we need to protect it at all costs. Have a look at the video below and see for yourself.
