Principal Product Designer - Loyalty (all genders) - parental leave cover

Role: Principal Product Designer (leadership position with individual contributor scope) for the Loyalty Design Team in Berlin, responsible for overseeing the Plus experience, delivering customer‑centric designs, and mentoring two designers. Responsibilities: - Define the North Star vision and strategic UX/visual direction for Zalando’s loyalty ecosystem. - Drive cross‑functional alignment with product, engineering, and brand leadership. - Design complex, gamified systems (missions, leveling tiers) for the Plus program. - Champion and evolve Zalando’s design system, creating new visual principles and motion frameworks. - Lead discovery, rapid prototyping, A/B testing and data‑driven experimentation. - Mentor senior designers, contribute to the design community, and conduct design reviews. - Deliver end‑to‑end design projects from problem definition through execution. Qualifications: - Proven track record of architecting visually rich, customer‑facing digital products. - Strong UX/UI foundation with experience in design experiments, concept design methods, and user research. - Expertise in visual storytelling, typography, colour, layout, and motion design. - Ability to conduct A/B testing and leverage product analytics. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, comfortable partnering with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders. - Passion for inclusive and accessible design. - Experience mentoring designers and raising design standards.
