Engineering Manager - Content Team

Role: As the Engineering Manager of the Content team, you will lead a team of six engineers responsible for the content displayed by Zalando partners, including organic and sponsored content. You will own the look and feel of formats such as Boards, Landing Pages, and Ads, as well as the Content Workspace tooling used by partners to upload assets and compose these formats. Your leadership will drive ZMS's revenue growth by enabling self‑service content management and creating engaging formats. Responsibilities: - Lead, coach, and mentor a high‑performing engineering team, fostering ownership, psychological safety, and continuous learning. - Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to shape and deliver the technical roadmap, define mid‑to‑long‑term technical goals, and translate business requirements into scalable solutions. - Demonstrate strong product ownership and insight, ensuring engineering efforts align with maximum business impact. - Provide strategic architecture guidance while remaining hands‑on, participating in architecture reviews and assisting with complex challenges. - Define and enforce engineering standards, including CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and quality as a core feature of releases. - Recruit top‑tier engineering talent, shape team structure, and drive hiring processes. - Build and retain a high‑performing team through effective rituals, process improvements, and a culture of knowledge sharing. Qualifications: - Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams in fast‑paced environments. - Strong full‑stack software engineering background, especially with frontend technologies (React) and backend technologies (Node.js, Kotlin/Java); mobile app experience a plus. - Expertise in modern architecture patterns (Microservices, Event‑Driven, REST/OpenAPI) and cloud platforms (AWS, containerization). - Hands‑on mentality with the ability to engage in technical discussions and architecture reviews. - Business acumen to translate technical debt and infrastructure needs into clear business value. - Excellent English communication skills, capable of bridging engineering, product, and sales stakeholders.
