About this role

Role: The Logistics Development team drives speed, efficiency and continuous innovation across Zalando's fulfillment network. Operating in an autonomous Agile POD model, the team adopts a decentralized “Citizen Developer” approach to scale automation across Europe. As a Senior Enterprise Automation Engineer you will act as the technical bridge between Applied Science research and operational logistics, designing, building and deploying intelligent workflow automations using enterprise tools (UiPath, n8n) and integrating Agentic AI (LLMs) into transport, customs and packaging processes. You will create robust Human‑in‑the‑Loop architectures to transform manual rule‑based tasks into supervised autonomous systems, enabling logistics teams to focus on strategic execution and exception handling. Responsibilities: - Design, deploy and scale intelligent workflow automations with UiPath Suite, n8n to eliminate high‑volume manual data entry. - Integrate Large Language Models via prompt engineering into daily business processes for unstructured data handling. - Define and enforce baseline development guidelines ensuring bots are auditable, secure and deployable across the European network. - Design and manage API connections linking legacy systems (e.g., SAP) with modern AI orchestration tools. - Develop Human‑in‑the‑Loop (HITL) workflows that safely manage operational edge‑cases and build stakeholder trust. - Collaborate with central Tech teams and operational SMEs to rapidly discover, build and push solutions to production in fast‑paced sprints. Qualifications: - Deep hands‑on expertise developing and architecting workflow automations using enterprise platforms such as UiPath Suite and n8n. - Proven experience in prompt engineering and safe integration of Large Language Models into live business operations. - Solid programming foundation (Python, JavaScript) for custom logic within automation frameworks. - Experience with Intelligent Document Processing (OCR, AI) to extract structured data from logistics documents. - Proficiency in Process Mining (e.g., Celonis) or Task Mining to identify automation opportunities. - Ability to build self‑healing workflows and robust error‑handling frameworks. - Strong skills in designing, managing and troubleshooting APIs across diverse internal systems. - Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities to translate operational challenges into technical requirements. - Passion for process optimisation and agile, iterative delivery. What We Offer: - 27 days of holiday per year (increasing up to 30 days with tenure). - 2 paid volunteering days annually. - Hybrid working model with up to 60 % remote work. - Opportunity to work abroad up to 30 days per year. - Employee share program and 40 % discount on Zalando fashion and beauty products (30 % on Lounge). - Relocation assistance (subject to agreement). - Family services, health and wellbeing options, mental health support and coaching. - Continuous development through training platforms and bi‑annual peer‑to‑peer reviews.
