About this role
Role
Senior Enterprise Automation Engineer – part of the Logistics Development team responsible for driving speed, efficiency and continuous innovation across Zalando's fulfillment network. The role bridges advanced Applied Science research with operational reality, designing, building and deploying intelligent workflow automations using enterprise tools (UiPath, n8n) and integrating Agentic AI (LLMs) into daily logistics processes.
Responsibilities
- Build intelligent workflows: design, deploy and scale robust automations using enterprise orchestration platforms (e.g., UiPath Suite, n8n) to eliminate high‑volume manual data entry.
- Integrate Cognitive AI: leverage prompt engineering to embed Large Language Models into business processes for handling unstructured data.
- Establish the standard: define and enforce baseline development guidelines ensuring decentralized bots are auditable, secure and deployable across the European network.
- Bridge the data gap: design and manage API connections linking legacy enterprise systems (e.g., SAP) with modern AI orchestration tools.
- Drive supervised autonomy: develop Human‑in‑the‑Loop (HITL) workflows that safely manage operational edge‑cases and build stakeholder trust.
- Execute with agility: collaborate closely with central tech teams and operational subject‑matter experts to rapidly discover, build and push solutions to production within fast‑paced sprints.
Qualifications
- Deep hands‑on expertise in developing and architecting workflow automations using enterprise platforms such as UiPath Suite and n8n.
- Practical experience in prompt engineering and safe integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) into live business operations.
- Solid foundation in basic programming (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for custom logic within automation frameworks.
- Experience with Intelligent Document Processing (OCR, AI) to extract structured data from logistics documents (invoices, customs forms).
- Proficiency in Process Mining or Task Mining (e.g., Celonis) to identify and prioritize automation opportunities.
- Ability to build self‑healing workflows and robust error‑handling frameworks.
- Strong capability in designing, managing and troubleshooting APIs to create data bridges across internal systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, translating complex operational friction into actionable technical requirements.
- Passion for process optimisation and thriving in an agile, iterative delivery environment.
What We Offer
- 27 days of holiday (increasing up to 30) plus 2 paid volunteering days.
- Hybrid working model with up to 60 % remote per week and the option to work from abroad up to 30 days per year.
- Employee share program, 40 % discount on Zalando fashion & beauty products, 30 % discount on Lounge, and additional external partner discounts.
- Relocation assistance (subject to prior agreement).
- Family services, health and wellbeing options (including Wellhub), mental health support and coaching.
