Perfect beach weather coming to Germany this weekend

Perfect beach weather coming to Germany this weekend

Given the downright dreadful weather we’ve been having recently, you’d be forgiven for having put away your swimsuit in tears. But it’s time to get it back out again - summer has not entirely abandoned Germany! In fact, this weekend looks set to be a scorcher.

“Corina” pushes up temperatures in Germany

Lots of sun and perfect bathing weather awaits Germany this weekend. You can thank “Corina”, a stable, high-pressure front currently flowing in from the Atlantic, for the sudden upsurge in temperatures, which could crack the 30-degree mark as early as Friday, August 23.

The whole weekend is expected to be sun-drenched, with a maximum of 12 full hours of sunshine predicted by Wetter.de in almost all regions. It should stay hot for several days, with the temperature especially high in Cologne, Frankfurt, Freiburg and Berlin. Thankfully, despite the balmy daytime temperatures, night values are way below the tropical limit of 20 degrees, meaning that you should have no trouble sleeping.

Summer weather could last until end of August

According to the DWD (German Weather Service), Friday will start sunny in most parts of the country. In the south and over Schleswig-Holstein, there may be some dense patches of cloud. The highs will be between 23 and 31 degrees, slightly less at the North Sea and over the mountains.

On Saturday, the northern half of Germany will remain sunny, hot and dry, with highs between 26 and 32 degrees predicted. In the south, there will be a few patches of clouds and showers in the mountainous regions. Things look even more friendly on Sunday, when the whole country will be bathed in glorious sunshine and the thermometer climbs to the 27 to 33-degree mark.

The hot, sunny weather should hold well into Monday, when it will hit 30 degrees even in the Baltic regions. Early predictions suggest that the good weather could hold for the entire last week of August, up until the end of meteorological summer. Costa del Deutschland is back. Bless you, Corina.
