Apparent neo-Nazis attack teens with machete in Berlin

Police are looking for two men who attacked two teenagers with a machete in the eastern Berlin district of Friedrichshain in the early morning of March 26.
Apparent Neo-Nazis attack teens leaving bar
The Police State Protection division at the State Criminal Police Office in Berlin have begun an investigation after two 19-year-olds were attacked while leaving a bar in the Friedrichshain district at around 1.30am on the morning of March 26.
The young man and woman were leaving Supamolly bar on Jessnerstraße, where a solidarity concert to raise money for Sea Punks was being held. Sea Punks organises maritime search-and-rescue operations to help people fleeing war, poverty and exploitation.
Attackers shouted Nazi slogans
According to rbb, the two men approached the teens and shouted insults before one man pulled a machete from his jacket and hit one of the teens across the head.
The second perpetrator removed the machete’s cover and attacked the woman. Both victims were beaten, suffered injuries and were taken to hospital.
According to rbb, the two men shouted the Nazi slogan “Sieg Heil” during the attack, before fleeing in the direction of Scharnweberstraße.
Violent, far-right attacks on the rise in Germany
Across Germany, there has been an increase in the number of right-wing, politically motivated violent crimes in recent years. The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) registered 1.270 such crimes in 2023, 1.488 in 2024 and 1.521 in 2025.
However, the overall number of far-right, politically motivated crimes (i.e. violent and non-violent) fell by 4 percent in 2025. A total of 41.072 far-right, politically motivated offences were reported during 2025.
