How much will Berlin public transport cost in 2027?

The transport association for Berlin and Brandenburg (VBB) has announced how much tickets will cost in the capital and surrounding federal state from January 1, 2027.

VBB announces transport prices for 2027

Whether travelling by S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram or bus, Berliners can expect higher public transport prices in 2027. But there is one exception: the price of a single ticket will remain the same: 4 euros in the AB zone and 5 euros in the ABC zone.

All other tickets will see an average price increase of 3,72 percent, according to an announcement from the VBB, a significantly smaller price increase than was introduced at the beginning of 2026.

The price of a four-journey ticket will increase from 12,40 euros to 13,20 euros. The price of a 24-hour ticket will increase from 11,20 euros to 11,50 euros, and the cost of an AB monthly ticket will increase from 113 euros to 117,20 euros.

But what about the Deutschlandticket?

Of course, these changes are of little consequence to those with a monthly Deutschlandticket subscription, which allows unlimited public transport use across Germany. While the official announcement of the 2027 Deutschlandticket price rise is still pending, there is some speculation about what passengers can expect.

Starting in 2027, the Deutschlandticket price index will apply, making price rises more predictable. The price index uses a formula that considers changes in employment costs, energy costs and general costs to calculate whether the ticket price should increase, and by how much.

Ahead of the scheduled price rise in January, a group of data journalists at public broadcaster WDR used the new formula to forecast the 2027 price rise. According to their estimations, a monthly Deutschlandticket subscription will increase from 63 euros to 66,80 euros — a price rise of 6,1 percent.
