Join the Uli Gutscher Quintet this summer for an upbeat evening of groovy, melodious jazz, featuring some of Gutscher's best compositions, in the fourth part of the new Jazz on the Meadow series.
The Uli Gutscher quintet will present an entertaining programme of exuberant jazz pieces, upbeat as well as soothing ballads, and swinging compositions. Visitors can enjoy the compositions outside on the grass, while basking in the sun – an ideal way to enjoy the warm weather.
The quintet, as the name suggests, consists of five musicians, with the band leader Uli Gutscher playing the trombone. The other members are Thomas Krisch, playing the bass, Herbert Wachter on the drums, Werner Acker on the guitar and Tilmann Jäger on the piano. These musicians interact and improvise with each other in a unique manner than allows them to effortlessly create beautifully melodious tunes.
Jazz on the Meadow (Jazz auf der Wiese) is a modified, corona-friendly version of Jazz at the Dulkhäusle (Jazz beim Dulkhäusle), a forest restaurant at Esslingen. Usually, every Thursday evening, jazz lovers in the area crowd around the beer tables and enjoy live music played by local musicians.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, this event had to be put on hold for the moment, but the creators were not about to give up so easily. Instead, they created the Jazz on the Meadow series, allowing the legacy of jazz music to continue, while at the same time adhering to safety measures.
The concerts of this series are free to attend, but you can register at their official event page. You can also find more information on the date, address and timings.
