The Long Night Of Yoga, organised by Yoga für alle e.V., is an event that brings together a large number of yoga studios in Germany to ensure that everyone has access to the light of yoga. This year, it takes place online, making it even easier to join in.

Yoga in Germany

Originating from ancient India, the practice of yoga is a physical, mental and spiritual discipline that is as much for the mind as it is for the body. The first ever yoga studio in Germany was set up by Boris Sacarow, a disciple of Swami Sivananda, in 1921.

Today, the discipline has become a way of life for many in the country, with numerous yoga studios, classes and training programmes sharing the benefits of this art with their students.

What to expect during Yoga Night

Usually, Yoga Night is a physical event that brings together numerous people, places and cultures. This year, due to coronavirus restrictions, Yoga Night cannot take place in the traditional sense. But that doesn’t stop these yoga lovers: this year, Yoga Night will take place online.

On the evening of June 20, 67 of the best yoga and fitness studios from Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Sylt will participate, bringing their tips, tricks, knowledge and experience right to your yoga mat. Over 100 classes take place through live streams, with special programmes put together exclusively for Yoga Night. And the best part is that you can enjoy this all from the safety and comfort of your own home!

Attending Yoga Night 2020

To attend Yoga Night 2020, you need to purchase a ticket. The money made from the tickets does not go to the yoga studios, but rather to an initiative called #yogahilft - a social project that funds yoga classes for those who otherwise might not be able to attend.

Every three tickets purchased funds one hour of these classes. You can also choose to donate by buying one of the limited edition masks for 15 euros. You can both purchase tickets and masks from the official website of Yoga Night. Once you've purchased your ticket, you'll be able to access live streams and classes and enjoy the long night of yoga!
