Berlin company set to make world’s biggest-ever fruit salad

A fruit wholesale company in Berlin has announced that it will make the world’s largest-ever fruit salad and you’re invited to help out.

A fruit salad beyond Berliners’ wildest dreams

Chair of the Berlin Fruchthof fruit distribution company, Nils Doerwald, has announced that the business will attempt to make an international record-breaking fruit salad.

On September 15, to celebrate the company’s 75th birthday, around 5.000 visitors are invited to the Fruchthof warehouse to indulge their sweet tooth any time between 10am and 6pm.

At completion, the bounteous fruit salad is expected to weigh no fewer than 10.750 kilograms, around 400 kilograms more than the world’s current biggest-ever fruit salad. Is the Fruchthof likely to beat out the Great Fruit Salad of Chécy, France, 2019? The proof will be in the pudding.

To banana or not to banana?

That is the question on everyone’s lips up at the Fruchthof on Beusselstraße as the big day looms. The employees at Fruchthof are still on the fence, the conundrum being that bananas add significant weight but can result in a mushy, brown fruit salad, which nobody likes.

If you’re a fruit salad fiend and looking to get in on the action, Doerwald and colleagues are looking for volunteers to help chop their way to breaking a record.

No previous culinary experience is required, there’s a free bowl of fruit salad in it for you and the preparation will be done before you know it. Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
