The city of Berlin has announced that it will install 20 additional, free bike repair stations for locals to pump up their flat tyres and tighten their brakes.

Berlin installs additional bike repair stops

It’s a sunny day and you’re heading out for a ride, just made it past Alex and you’ve got a flat. No time for sighs!

The Berlin Senate has announced that it will soon install 20 new bike repair stations across the city, where local cyclists can access bike pumps and repair tools for free.

Since the coronavirus pandemic, the number of bikes and e-bikes being produced and sold in Germany and Berlin has skyrocketed, alongside the sale of secondhand bikes. In 2020, almost 20,5 million bicycles were registered in the capital.

Locations of new bike repair stations yet to be revealed

In response to a question from the Left Party, the Berlin Senate said that the locations of the new bike repair stations would be revealed in early April 2024.

The city already has five such stations, outside the Pablo Neruda Library in Friedrichshain, at Yorckstraße 37 in Kreuzberg, at both Neukölln and Reinickendorf’s Rathäuser, and on Steglitz’s Schloßstraße shopping street.
