On Wednesday, Just Eat Takeaway announced that its child company Lieferando will start offering supermarket delivery services throughout Germany.

Need groceries? Lieferando will soon have you covered

Hungry Germans will soon be able to order groceries through Lieferando, Just Eat Takeaway announced in a press release on Wednesday. The international company also announced its intention to expand its service in Germany, initially starting supermarket delivery in the 50 cities it currently serves.

It then plans to expand its operations to 80 cities, which would allow 12 million customers nationwide to order groceries and other selected supermarket items, as well as takeaway food, online or via the app with their mobile phones.

Supermarket partnerships yet to be announced

Lieferando said it aimed to unite customers with their groceries as quickly as possible, with deliveries expected to take an average of 20 to 30 minutes. It is not yet known which supermarkets Lieferando will partner with.

Just Eat Takeaway also announced that it was looking into bringing similar services to other countries, namely the UK and the Netherlands.
