No Berlin fan mile for the 2026 World Cup

Berlin will not have a World Cup fan mile for the first time in nearly 20 years because nobody thought to organise it on time.

Keine Eile bedeutet keine Fanmeile

Every time the FIFA World Cup or the Euros roll around, football fans of Berlin flock to the Brandenburg Gate fan mile. Not this year.

The city’s official website had announced that the fan mile would once again return to Straße des 17. Juni, but the statement has now been amended. Speaking to Tagesspiegel, a local government representative said that the city had not received any application to run a fan mile.

The fan mile is typically organised by a private company but is free to enter. It is likely now too late for any private company to organise the fan mile in time for the competition kick-off on June 11.

Where can you watch the 2026 World Cup in Berlin?

So with the fan mile closed, where will you be able to catch a match? There are plenty of other options; there will be official public viewing screens at Tempelhof, on Potsdamer Platz and at 14 other spots across the city. You can head to the Berlin.de website to see the full list.

But watching a game outside a bar or restaurant often provides the best atmosphere. With the competition being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, matches will be broadcast at impractical times locally, between 6pm and 6am.

But you’ll still be able to catch a few games live. During the tournament, bars and restaurants will be permitted to broadcast games that start at or before 10pm.
