20.000 free tickets are now available for the official New Year’s Eve street party at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. Here’s what interested revelers need to know.
Free tickets go on sale for Yeah 26
Get them while they're hot! Tickets are now available online for Berlin’s new, official New Year’s Eve street party. Locals and anyone planning to come and spend New Year in the capital can head to the “Yeah 26” website and register their name to receive a maximum of two tickets.
Entrance gates open at 9.30pm on December 31 at Ebertstraße Süd and Ebertstraße Nord and all attendees are asked to arrive before 11pm. There will be stands selling food, beer and other drinks, and from 10pm, DJ sets from Duo Bader + Bernhard, Freak de L’Afrique and Annie O will start.
When the bells ring in the New Year there will be a large, seven-minute firework display, then dancing and celebrations will continue until 1am. The free tickets are personalised, so revelers must bring an ID card or other form of ID with their name and photo to show at the entrance.
ZDF party moves to Hamburg
New Year 2025/2026 marks the first edition of the Yeah 26 party. Since New Year 2010, German public broadcaster ZDF has hosted and televised New Year celebrations at the Brandenburg Gate. But in September, the broadcaster said the party would move to Hamburg this year.
Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner initially took on the role of party pooper, explaining that the local authorities had no plan to organise a similar event “at the expense of the taxpayer [...]. At least not at times when the budget is restrictive.”
Wegner U-turned in late-November, announcing that the city would doch put on a party. The CDU mayor hopes this edition and those in the years to come are fantastic enough that Berlin’s New Year celebrations can compete with those in Sydney or New York.
