Only in Hamburg would you find a cinema screen that floats on the river. The open-air cinema on the Alster river transforms the Jungfernstieg into an atmospheric venue every year at the beginning of September.

Open-air cinema on the river

Binnenalster Film Festival Hamburg in Hamburg is renowned as a cultural highlight, the ideal end to an early autumn day in the city. And what’s more - entry is free.

At the Binnenalster Film Festival Hamburg, which is a cooperation between City Management Hamburg, Filmfest Hamburg and the Verein Lebendiger Jungfernstieg, one film per evening is shown in the first week of September every year over four consecutive evenings. The programme begins at dusk from 8.30 pm at the Alster pier on Jungfernstieg.

Programme will be announced soon

This year's programme will be announced soon. To give you an idea of what to expect: as a highlight last year, the new season of the Hamburg State Opera was opened on the Saturday evening with the production of Dmitri Shostakovich's "The Nose" by Karin Beier and broadcast live on the screen. The Bodyguard and A Hard Day's Night (starring The Beatles) were also shown. Stay tuned to find out what’s on this year!

You don't even have to be a film-buff to enjoy this - Binnenalster Film Festival Hamburg is for everyone!
