Isar Island Festival
The Isar Island Festival (Isarinselfest) returns to the city of Munich for its 10th edition, offering visitors a vibrant mix of music, activities and cultural events. Located on Prater Island in the middle of the Isar River, this three-day festival offers fun, entertainment and food for the entire family.
A celebration of Munich’s favourite river
Now in its 10th year, the Isar Island Festival sees the river transformed into an open-air festival for celebration, with an array of stages, stands and more set up along the mile between Ludwigs- and Maximiliansbrücke.
Following the success of the Danube Island Festival in Vienna and the bridge festival held during Munich’s 850th anniversary celebrations, the municipality created the Isar Island Festival to honour the beauty and importance of the Isar river. Expect to enjoy live performances, sample delicious local treats and be entertained throughout the weekend.
Open to all ages
The Isar Island Festival features a number of stages, each with their own dedicated programme each year. The wide variety of entertainment means there is something for everyone in the family to come and enjoy.
The Kids Corner, for example, will offer dedicated shows, performances and workshops for the little ones, while the DGB Brett’l stage is set to host musicians Yodel Fish and Carina Corell and the Kulturbühne stage will welcome ska band Bluekilla and acoustic band Chilantey.
In addition, artists from across the country are also invited to perform on the Gem Stage during the festival for a chance to win the Isar Island Festival Prize. Open to all talents, from jugglers, clowns and magicians to poets, storytellers and musicians, a jury will select winners in the music and performing arts categories.
