Berlin’s iconic International Congress Centre will open its doors to the public for free in mid-September. Here’s how you can get a ticket:

Free visits to Berlin’s ICC for 49 hours only

Locals and tourists in Berlin have an unusual opportunity to see inside the capital’s “spaceship” congress centre in mid-September as part of Doors Open Day (Tag des offenen Denkmals).

Between September 12 and 14, the building’s impressive foyer area and multiple conference halls with futuristic design details will be open to the public. Opened in 1979, the building is regarded as one of the most iconic pieces of German architecture of the postwar period.

The centre closed due to asbestos contamination in 2014, and renovation plans are underway. The city is currently accepting applications for what the complex should be used for once it has been renovated. This might be the last chance to peek inside before work begins!

How to get tickets to visit Berlin's ICC

Doors Open Day tickets for the ICC became available on July 16 and were immediately in such high demand that the visitBerlin website crashed.

The local portal has announced that tickets will be made available again soon, so if you're interested in getting some, it's worth checking the site regularly.

When tickets are available again online, you will be able to book a time slot to visit the ICC on September 12, 13 or 14. Doors Open Day finishes at 5pm on September 14, 2025.
