About this role

Role: As a Fullstack Software Engineer in the Transport Planning Optimization team within Zalando's Logistics Technology department, you will design and implement crucial systems that enable efficient delivery of millions of items. Based in Berlin, the team builds and continuously improves a robust Transport Management System, focusing on intelligent, scalable solutions that optimize transport plans from forecasting to execution. Responsibilities: - Design, develop, deploy, operate, and improve full‑stack software solutions using Kotlin for the backend and TypeScript with React for the frontend. - Plan sprints and roadmaps, breaking down feature requests into manageable stories and tasks. - Implement and fully test new features before production deployment using continuous delivery. - Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to align timelines and priorities. - Continuously improve the code base and your own skill set, while supporting colleagues. Qualifications: - 4‑5 years of professional experience as a software engineer in JVM‑based languages, with proven proficiency in Kotlin and understanding of SQL and high‑performance databases. - Proven experience with modern frontend development using TypeScript and React. - Experience designing and implementing APIs within a microservice landscape on cloud platforms. - Strong sense of reliability, ownership, entrepreneurial and analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and willingness to share knowledge. - Full‑stack software development lifecycle experience from requirements to deployment and operations.
