Come and join in on one of the biggest and most colourful picnics in the entire district! Every summer, the Britzer Garden in Berlin hosts a spectacular evening filled with classical music and festive fireworks, known as the Feuerblumen und Klassik Open-Air.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Britzer Garden, there's a special edition of the festival, entitled "Symphony & Sounds - Classical, Rock and Pop", so the 2025 edition is sure to appeal to an even wider audience than ever before!
Picture yourself, family, children and friends, all gathered together eating a delicious picnic under the warm, summer sky in one of the city’s, if not Germany's, most beautiful parks.
A cultural highlight on the summer agenda, the Britzer Garden has been organising stunning open-air performances since 1999, bringing the best of live classical music, local food and fireworks together under a starry sky.
This year’s event, under the direction of Jens Troester, will be staged by the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt
and transports viewers to a carnival of romance. The popular motif of the masked ball, the masquerade and the deception surrounding such dances is the main theme of the musical selection for the evening.
Expect to hear pieces with a river, lake or beach theme: Smetana's Vltava, meets Bruce Springsteen's The River, Deep Purple's Smoke on the Water, blends with Robert Schumann's The Rhine Symphony, and the summer feeling by the water is perfect with the Beach Boys' Surfing Medley and Barry Manilow's Copacabana.
In addition to the world-class sounds of the Philharmonic Brno, singers Lorena Huber and Karsten Stiers are sure to stir up some emotions on stage. The grand finale, the firework display, will be round off the event. Filling the sky around the stage and over the lake behind, the flames and lights delight thousands of visitors every year.
Do you have your picnic basket ready to go? Before you head over to the Britzer garden website for your tickets, take note of the following:
The park will be closing its doors to the general public early on the day of the event, as gates for the Feuerblumen und Klassik Open-Air open at 2pm. Parking spaces will be limited so be sure to plan your route via public transport or taxi in time.
