A bar in Berlin has been named the best in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the latest edition of the Mixology Awards. Bars in Hamburg, Munich and Cologne also took home prizes.

Green Door Berlin named best bar in Germany

The Green Door bar in Berlin has been named the “Bar of the Year” across Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the Mixology Awards 2026, considered the most prestigious bar and cocktail awards in the DACH region. Green Door’s staff were also named “Bar Team of the Year”.

2026 marks the second year in a row that Green Door has been named the best spot for a cocktail in DACH. In 2025, Green Door bartender Maria Gorbatschova was also the first woman to be awarded the title of “Best Bartender” in Germany

Located in the southwestern neighbourhood of Schöneberg, Green Door opened in 1995 and has an interior self-described as similar to “something between a private salon and a David Lynch film”.

If you've got some pennies to spare, head to Green Door for a 14-euro Pumpkin Swizzle, with Blanco Tequila, lime, fig leaf, matcha and agave syrup, or just have a Peroni for a fiver.

Hamburg, Munich and Cologne bars also take home awards

Berlin often steals the show at the Mixology Awards, but other spots across the country were also given praise. Nick&Nora, a cocktail and champagne bar in Hamburg, took home “New Bar of the Year”.

Ory, located in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Munich, was named “Hotel Bar of the Year” and its own bartender, Jennifer Mindle, was named “Newcomer of the Year”.

Finally, Zest and Spice, which opened in Cologne in 2024 and serves a menu of brightly coloured cocktails to deconstruct patrons' associations with colours and flavours, won “Best Cocktail Menu”. Looking to shake things up? They’re currently hiring a minijobber!
