Over 50.000 expected at Berlin pro-Palestine demonstration
On Saturday, tens of thousands of people are expected to take part in the joint "Zusammen für Gaza" (Together for Gaza) and "All Eyes on Gaza" demonstrations in central Berlin.
The Zusammen für Gaza protest will begin at Alexanderplatz at 2.30pm and move through Mitte before finishing at 5.00pm at the Siegessäule, where there will be musical performances and speeches as part of the All Eyes on Gaza demonstration.
The demonstrations are organised by representatives of more than 50 groups, including the Palestinian Association of Germany, Medico International, Amnesty International, Israelis for Peace and The Left Party.
Group transportation has been organised to Berlin from 44 German cities, from Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, to Züssow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Similar to recent mass demonstrations in The Hague, participants are asked to wear red so “show a red line” against genocide, weapons deliveries to Israel, and to demand humanitarian aid for people in Palestine.
In June, an estimated 50.000 people in Berlin attended the largest pro-Palestine demonstration in Germany to date. Organisers expect Saturday’s demonstration to surpass this record attendance.
