Rheinterrasse, Joseph-Beuys-Ufer 33, 40479 Dusseldorf

The wine festival season kicks off in style in Düsseldorf with the Spring Wine Festival (Weinfrühling). More than 100 producers from Germany and around the world will be presenting their vintages in an event that extends over 1.400 square metres.

The festival is held in the Rheinterrasse, an impressive 1920s exhibition space and beer garden beside the River Rhine.

Looking forward to the asparagus season

The various exhibitors will present their new vintages with a focus on white summer wines for the outdoor drinking and asparagus season. Entrance tickets include wine tastings, so visitors will be able to sample a full range of German wines, including those from Mosel, Saar, Baden Württemberg and Rheinhessen.

Wines from Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Australia, South Africa and Chile will also be on offer. For the foodies, there will even be a selection of new olive oils from Greece, Spain and Italy to try - but, unusually for a German festival, you're unlikely to find any beer!

Taste and buy wine for the summer

Exhibitors include independent winegrowers and family wineries, as well as renowned direct importers and well-known winegrowers' cooperatives.

So, while tasting will be the main attraction for most visitors, there will also be plenty of opportunities to find out more about the provenance of the wines, the stories of the producers and, of course, to order a couple of cases of your favourites to enjoy at home.
