With summer finally here, it is time to welcome the much-awaited summer edition of the renowned Fantasy Filmfest. Packed within two eventful days, seven large German cities will witness an array of daring films in a range of genres.

Summer Edition: Fantasy Filmfest - Nights

Similar to Fantasy Filmfest - White Nights (the winter edition), this summer edition is a smaller version of the main Fantasy Filmfest (which takes place in September), popping up in seven of Germany’s largest cities for two days. The summer edition only screens 10 films, compared to the 50 films screened during the main festival.

Taking place for the 16th time this year, 2020's festival upholds its name of “Fantasy Filmfest” with a programme packed with breathless thrillers, obscure sci-fi reveries, hard horror shockers, and precious art-house gems - a fresh change from the typical blockbusters and commercial films.

The festival showcases films that stand out, either by breaking conventions and innovating, or challenging and provoking the status quo - films that you would not typically find in other German cinemas. Highlights this year include Malasana Street, True History of the Kelly Gang, The Other Lamb and We Summon the Darkness.
