Spring is awakening! Warm sunshine and highs of 22 degrees celsius are expected in Germany at the end of this week.

Warm sunshine forecast for Germany

In Germany, the weather will warm up towards the end of this week. On Wednesday afternoon, locals in Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Saarbrücken and Bremen can expect 16 degrees, while those in Cologne and Frankfurt will see 18 degrees.

Moving into Thursday, locals in Cologne and Frankfurt can expect respective highs of 21 and 20 degrees. The weather will remain warm in the north, with 19 degrees forecast for Bremen, and 18 degrees for Hanover, Hamburg and Berlin.

Things will heat up again on Friday, with 22 degrees forecast for Cologne and Frankfurt, 21 for Saarbrücken and 20 degrees for Hanover, Berlin, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. Across the country, sunshine will prevail into the weekend, but temperatures in the low double digits or single digits will return.

Italy prepares for its first heatwave of 2025

Further south in Europe, Italians are preparing for some serious heat. While snowfall is still expected to arrive in northern parts of the country in early to mid-April, highs of 35 degrees have been forecast for the southern regions at the end of the month.

Meteorologists are warning that this contrast of cold and hot temperatures within a short period may cause so-called “supercells” to form. These supercells can cause more violent thunderstorms, hailstorms and sometimes tornadoes.
