Warm weather forecast across Germany

It’s already time to get the sun cream and sun hats out. After some weeks of mild, sunny weather in the mid-teens across Germany, temperatures are expected to soar to the mid- and high-twenties over the May Day holiday weekend.

Temperatures will start to rise on Thursday afternoon, with 21 degrees expected in Cologne and Frankfurt, 20 degrees in Saarbrucken, Bremen and Hamburg and 19 degrees in Berlin and Hanover.

May 1 and 2 will be hot in Germany

The weather will shift significantly again on May 1, which is a public holiday in all German federal states. Residents in Cologne, Frankfurt and Hamburg can expect highs of 25 degrees, in Berlin, Bremen and Hanover, highs of 24 degrees and in Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Saarbrucken, highs of 23 degrees.

The German Weather Service station at Kahler Asten, a mountain 841,9 metres above sea level, is forecast to see highs of 18 degrees.

On May 2, temperatures will rise again. Berliners will see the warmest weather, with sunshine and 28 degrees forecast. 27 degrees is forecast in Frankfurt and 26 degrees in Dresden, Leipzig, Hanover, Hamburg, Cologne, Stuttgart and Nuremberg.

Thunderstorms and rain expected from May 3

Temperamental weather will continue on May 3, when thunderstorms and rain arrive in western parts of the country. Temperatures are forecast to drop to around 20 degrees. Eastern regions will see only intermittent, light showers, while sunshine and highs of 27 degrees will persist.

Temperatures will continue to drop as the new week arrives, but it will remain warm. Highs of between 16 and 21 degrees are forecast for the west, and highs of between 20 and 25 degrees are forecast for the east.
