Marktplatz, Ludwigsburg Ludwigsburg

Be whisked away to a wonderful winter wonderland this holiday season, and immerse yourself in a truly ornate Christmas world at the Ludwigsburg Baroque Christmas Market. Every year more than 150 timbered stalls are set up, enchanting visitors from far and wide with their offering of mulled wine, chestnuts and gingerbread cookies.

Ludwigsburg: A rich Christmas market like no other

The Baroque Christmas Market in Ludwigsburg, located conveniently near Stuttgart, is said to be one of the most beautiful in the country - and rightly so! This magical market is surrounded by illuminated arches and angels made of thousands of lights. Both of the baroque churches by the square are festively decorated, as the symmetry of the city square and garden act as the model for the layout of this rococo Christmas market.

Over 150 Christmas stands are set up at the Weihnachtsmarkt, offering traditional handmade holiday ornaments, decorations and gifts. Plenty of warm and filling treats can also be sampled, such as regional specialities like Maultaschen and Spätzle, in addition to German beer and wine. Is it really a visit to a Christmas market if you don’t have a hot mug of Glühwein?

One of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany

The Baroque Christmas market allows visitors to enjoy a varied entertainment programme that includes festive concerts, atmospheric music and contemplative performances. But just strolling through the beautifully and festively decorated stalls is a pleasure in itself! There are also plenty of activities for children, such as the merry-go-round, magic shows and puppet shows so the whole family can have a joyous festive outing!

And if you are in the mood for some extra Christmas shopping, the nearby pedestrian area offers plenty of stores for you to browse through, so we recommend using public transportation when possible.

Plan your visit to the Ludwigsburg Baroque Christmas market

The Ludwigsburg Baroque Christmas Market is open daily from 11am to 9pm in the run-up to the merry national holiday. As the weather can change at any moment, be sure you dress warmly before heading out! For more details on this enchanting Christmas market, head over to the Ludwigsburg Baroque Christmas Market event page on the city’s tourism website.
