One of Europe’s biggest open-air NYE parties 

Locals and visitors alike are all invited by the city of Berlin to come and attend this massive open-air party on New Year’s Eve. Taking place on the 2km stretch between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate, this event sees the entire Strasse des 17. Juni turned into one big party area.

A full and varied festival programme, which includes a series of live music performances, light and laser shows as well as DJ sets, kicks off at 2pm on December 31 and runs into the early morning hours.  And in case party-goers get peckish, a variety of food stalls and bar offer local dishes, German beer and more for all budgets.

Of course, it would not be a true New Year’s Eve celebration without a spectacular firework display, which takes place at midnight after the countdown. After the fireworks, the party continues on until 3am. In addition to the entertainment programme, there are also plenty of funfair rides, including the Ferris wheel which offers unforgettable views over the Tiergarten and the city. 

Some events and attractions are free of charge to attend, but to attend the renowned party at the Brandenburg Gate, tickets start at 10 euros! As such, Berlin’s biggest NYE bash attracts hundreds of thousands of people each year, so be prepared for the crowds. Since many surrounding streets are also closed off during the party, it is recommended to travel via public transport.

Don’t forget that this New Year’s Eve party is open-air - although there are some party tents there is no general covering. So dress warmly and be prepared for all types of weather.
